A reminder to all those Christmas Stuffed Racers out there to dust off your wheels once again for the Boxing Day Bash and Dash through Windlesham's high roads, hills and hostelries.
The Event starts from British Oxygen (as was) at 11.00 (arrive by 10.00 for numbering and judging), then continues to visit all the watering holes in Windlesham and return to the Village centre by 13.30 for prize giving. Please refer to the
conditions of entry.
These days all Racers are considered part of the "best dressed" category, but if any mad soles still want to go for the best time they should make themselves known at the start. They will be let loose 5 minutes before the crowd to give them a chance to clear the first bar.
The Race is accompanied by a collection from amongst the cheering crowds by the Racers wielding sealed buckets. All proceeds go towards charitable good causes associated with the Windlesham Village. The event is supported and overseen by the Surrey Border Lions Club who are assisted by the local clubs and villagers turning out to help organise and marshal. If you have some spare time on Boxing Day to assist, please
let us know.
Over the past few years this "letting off of steam" has been getting bigger and bigger. We are not aiming to limit the entries this year, but please note that we would like them in before Christmas Day! If we do have to cull any participants then the "pay-on-the-day" type could suffer.
Note that there is a
road closure order on the Race route from 10.30 to 14.00. This doesn't mean that there is no local car access, but be warned that the crowds are too great to allow through traffic. If local residents do have visitors turning up this day, please let them know what to expect and if possible avoid those hours. But please take them to see the "show" though
all "human" life is there! Raid those penny jars and fill your pockets.
