Surrey Residents Nominated as 2012 Torch Bearers

Some 380 Surrey Residents have been nominated as Olympic Torch Bearers for the London 2012 games in the Lloyds TSB Torch Bearer Nomination Scheme alone (there is also a Coca-Cola and a Samsung Torch Bearer Nomination scheme).

Of the 5 categories Charitable Work was the most popular with 172 nominations, then Sport with 127, Education had 52, Arts & Culture had 22 and Environment had only 7 nominated bearers.

A total of 8,000 torch bearers will be carrying the torch around the UK, Surrey's nominations will have quite a lot of competition with LOCOG's 'Moment to Shine' Campaign short listing some 28,000 potential torch bearers and Lloyds TSB received Over 9,000 nominations!

If you still want to nominate someone to carry the flame Samsung's nomination scheme is still running (it closes on 30 September at 11.59pm).
