Fortnightly Focus: Clothing Tags

Small plastics such as straws have been a talking point in recent months due to their impact on the environment and particularly the oceans in plastic pollution. This message has been seen far and wide and companies are already - slowly - making changes to their distribution of plastic single-use straws.

But after a recent clothes shop in Surrey we are concerned about the unnecessary plastic tags on clothing and we want to know what our local clothing stores plan to do to change this?

We know large companies are gradually working in the background towards more sustainable solutions for their business model, but these plans generally won’t take place for another few years. For such unnecessary plastic-use, we want to know why not now?

Here we see the popular high-street store Next using plastic on all of their clothing tags. Why do they feel the need to pollute their clothes when a simple, plastic-free alternative such as Fat Face's paper and string looks much nicer and reflects quality a lot better?

Let us know what your thoughts are about the unnecessary use of plastic on our clothes.
