If you can't stand the heat...

As temperatures in the south-east surge towards and even past 30°C, there may be an equivalent surge in medical calls and hospital admissions with the heat causing problems even for the relatively fit.

Heatwave in Surrey this year can be as severe as in 2003 - Met offfice warns

Anyone can be affected once the temperature levels reach a critical point and those with for example heart, blood pressure or obesity problems could be at added risk.
Some of us are lucky enough to work in air-conditioned environments but at the other end of the scale, imagine the bed-ridden elderly in carehomes with just a fan to recirculate hot air, if they are that lucky.
In general it's important to know how to recognise the danger signs of an oncoming heart attack or stroke and even more importantly action you can take which could be life-saving or reduce the long-term impact.
Surrey Business Club are hosting a practical demonstration of First Aid in the case of emergencies such as heart attacks at the headquarters of Business Link, in the centre of Woking on Tuesday evening, 7th July.
Aimed at small businesses, this  demonstration will be by Jane Pearce of Surrey First Aid Training and will be as practical as possible. As recent events in Los Angeles have shown, heart attacks can affect anyone.
